About Us

The North Little Rock Electric Department (NLRED) is a department of the City of North Little Rock and has been a consumer-owned utility for over 100 years.  Currently, NLRED is one of the largest municipal electric utilities in Arkansas, providing reliable service to more than 38,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in the cities of North Little Rock and Sherwood as well as Pulaski County.

Lineman

The North Little Rock Electric Linemen work to restore power during outages, complete service calls to maintain equipment, and follow up on potential safety issues. Rise through the ranks from groundsman to journeyman lineman!

Engineering

The Engineering Section of North Little Rock Electric works to support and improve reliable electric service for our customers. Our design team designs new services and helps customers upgrade existing facilities to their expanding needs. The Substation and Vegetation Management teams work to improve the overall health of our system and maintain the core infrastructure of our system. The GIS team maintains the maps and connectivity models that drive the outage management and customer service systems that rely on their data. The Planning Engineers forecast the potential growth due to new and changing power technologies to ensure no matter what challenges arise, we can build and provide service to any expansion of our customer base and their needs.

Construction

Our construction team at North Little Rock Electric is responsible for building and maintaining distribution power lines, both overhead and underground. Our construction crews respond to emergency situations and work to restore power. They also replace infrastructure that is damaged beyond repair after storms or other incidents occur. Construction works with other departments within North Little Rock Electric to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers and service territory.

Hydro

North Little Rock Electric recognizes hydropower as a leading renewable energy resource. Our crew over at the Murray Hydroelectric Plant are responsible for operating and maintaining our hydroelectric power generation facilities.

Tree Trimming

Trees are the number one cause of power outages, especially during storm weather. Our tree trimming crews assist in maintaining our service lines by removing tree limbs that have or could fall on a power line. North Little Rock Electric works to identify areas to clear in order to help prevent outages from occurring.

Finance

The finance team at North Little Rock Electric is responsible for handling the day-to-day business needs of our utility. Finance is responsible for tasks like accounting, payroll, asset management, and more. The team also collects payments from billing and disperses them between electric, sanitation, and recycling. Management receives reports from finance, allowing them to make the best decisions for the future of North Little Rock Electric and its customers.

Customer Service

Customer Service at North Little Rock is committed to providing our customers and the community the very best experience in handling their needs. Customer Service is able to help customers with account issues, service setup/moving, and more! Our team works to assist customers over the phone, by email, or through our online chat.
